Happy Bean Coffee is working with the Governor of Chicago to help those without power

Chicago has hit a record amount of consecutive days with measurable snowfall, and Happy Bean wants to help those who have lost power.

CHICAGO (February 18, 2021)- This past winter, Chicago is close to the record of the number of consecutive days where we have had measurable snowfall. Lots of citizens living in Chicago have had their power lines go down and have not had power for almost a week now. Like a good neighbor, Happy Bean would like to open their doors and welcome those who have lost power. We are offering free unlimited access to our Wi-Fi to those who are working from home and will also provide you with a free cup of coffee and your choice of pastry to make you feel at home. Here at Happy Bean, we see every one of our customers as part of our family and are extremely thankful for our loyal customers.

If you have not been made aware, a lot of the neighborhoods in the city of Chicago have received a record amount of snow, and a lot of power lines have been blown out because of the weight of the snow. Some people have also had no access to water for the past week and may not receive access to running water until the end of next week. Pipes have burst and caused a lot of flooding, which quickly turns to ice. Chicago has not seen something like this for over 100 years, and covid has made it a lot harder to get through it.

For those who are fortunate enough to still have power, we would like to welcome you with open arms as well. Covid 19 has changed the life for every single person living all across the globe. We have all been feeling a little lonely at times, and could use someone to talk to. Happy Bean is opening their doors to anyone who would like to work in our dining area, which is open from 6am to 8pm Monday - Friday. We are taking all of the safety precautions necessary such as sanitizing all surfaces, wearing masks, and having plexi- glass shields up in between each customer. Our Unlimited Wi-Fi will be completely free for anyone who would like to join us anytime for the Remaining time left in February all the way until the end of March.

“With kids starting to go back to school, and learning how to grasp hybrid learning, it can be extremely stressful for every parent, and it makes it harder for you to focus on what needs to be done at your job.” On Friday February 26, we will be bringing in volunteers who are willing to help tutor children from grades K-8, to help take off the stress of helping with homework they may be struggling to complete.

We continue to find wellness with our guests and are working to find ways to help our community every day. We wish well for all of the residents who are without power and hope you will come visit us soon!
